The Vast Mercy Of The LORD

Written August 31st, 2021 – Late Tuesday Afternoon

“But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall enter the ark — you and your sons and your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.” ~Genesis 6:18

The vast mercy of the LORD is amazing! In the midst of the extremely wicked and evil time of Noah’s day, the LORD spared him and his family from enduring the punishment that He was bringing on the rest of the world. In addition, the LORD rescued enough of the other creatures to repopulate the earth (and to provide for future atonement) after His wrath was finished. The catch, of course, was that Noah, his family, and the creatures that would be spared had to enter the ark in order to be saved.

The utter wickedness and evil that we see in the world today is maybe not much different than it was in Noah’s day. The mercy of the LORD is certainly the same in extent as it was then; today He offers salvation – rescue – to those who enter the “ark” of Christ Jesus, the Risen Redeemer of those who put their trust in Him. Just as the ark carried Noah and those with him through the righteous wrath of God, so Jesus carries those who are identified with His death and resurrection through the final wrath and terror of the LORD God Almighty.

The question that stands then is this: Are you in the Ark? Are you identified with Jesus? Have you found the deep and everlasting mercy of God sufficient to pardon, redeem, and transform your utter misery, sin, and shame? Listen! His mercy endures forever to those who trust Him – those who have turned from the world, the flesh, and the devil and have entrusted themselves completely to the only One who saves. That mercy will carry those of us in Him…through today and tomorrow and throughout all eternity. Are you in the Ark and are you living like you are?
