Praise To The Only God!

February 2nd, 2021 – Tuesday Afternoon

“Now to Him who is able to protect you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory, blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority before all time and now and forever. Amen.” ~Jude 1:24-25

The frosting on the cake of this passage is now seen – it is not the protection from falling, the righteous standing before the throne of judgment, or the joy and faultlessness; those things are wonderful and they are a display of the awesome power of God, but the frosting (and really the embodiment of the whole cake) is the only God who is forever worthy of glory, majesty, dominion, and authority.

Think about this: There is only one true God. No other “deity” exists that can even begin to compare to, let alone equal, Him; no one has His power, His justice, His knowledge, His understanding, His authority, His truth, etc. He alone reigns supreme over all that exists; He alone possesses perfect unity and community within Himself (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Only He knows the end from the beginning and only He IS the beginning and the end. Truly, there is NO ONE like Him!

Do you have any idea what an awesome privilege it is to know Him and to praise Him through Christ Jesus the Lord? We have discussed His power to keep us and to present us as holy and blameless with great joy, but how about how worthy He is of all of who and what we are? The crazy love and will of the infinite God to call, choose, equip, and empower finite creatures like us ought to drive us to our knees and faces before Him! It ought to cause us to live with holy passion and surrender to His Spirit at all times! He is our Father and Friend, yet what a Father and Friend with such glory and authority!

So then, let us echo Jude’s words with our own voices, hearts, hands, and feet: To the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord (our Master), be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority before all time and now and forever. Amen and Amen! He alone is God and He alone is worthy! Hallelujah!
