God Always Keeps His Promises

December 7th, 2021 – Tuesday Afternoon

“Then the LORD took note of Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had promised. So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.” ~Genesis 21:1-2

Aren’t you glad that God keeps His promises and acts in accordance with His will? Can you imagine what things would be like in a world where the Master Creator and Sovereign Lord was not faithful to His Word and did not keep His promises? Oh, how awful that would be! Everything would be chaos and disorder; there would be no justice, no truth, and no hope.

But…God, the LORD, does indeed keep His promises! Here in this passage, we are simply told that He visited or took note of Sarah as He had said – in accordance with His prophecy given in chapters 17 & 18 concerning the son that would be born to her. The LORD fulfilled His promise to Abraham and Sarah by giving them a child through their own relationship (instead of through Abraham’s relationship with a maidservant, as done previously); Sarah became pregnant and bore a son for her husband – even though both of them were well advanced in years. It all even happened in the timeframe that God said it would!

Can you imagine the joy? Can you picture the radiance that Sarah must have exhibited when she, long barren and beyond the child-bearing years, held her own little son for the first time? Can you see the awestruck worship that must have flowed from Abraham and Sarah’s hearts and lips as they realized the great and wonderful work that the LORD had performed through them and for them? God always keeps His promises and He is always faithful to His Word!

Let us today, right now, give the LORD the praise that He is due from us. Take the time, right now, to praise Him for His goodness, love, mercy, grace, and truth. Even in the midst of great struggle, trial, grief, and uncertainty, let us worship the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with our hearts, our hands, and our lips, and may His awesome and unchanging character be our delight! He always keeps His promises; He is always faithful to His Word; and, those who trust in Him will never be put to shame! Hallelujah!
