“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
As we continue in our Advent series, we turn today to Luke 2:21-38 in a sermon titled “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus – Part 4 – The Long-Expected Fulfillment of God’s Promises”. As we dig into God’s Word this morning, we are confronted by the faith of two saints of great age – Simeon and Anna. Both of these aged believers had faithfully served the Lord for many decades prior to their encounter with Jesus. Even then, their faith in the Lord was such that when their long-awaited Savior arrived, they rejoiced to see Him, even as a Baby. When we see such testimonies of faithful trust and obedience and we are reminded of the always faithful God who keeps His promises, may our hearts be humbled and empowered to emulate Him and these saints who have long gone before. He is worthy of our praise, our adoration, and our faithful trust.
December’s Memory Verse:
“He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.” ~Luke 1:32
