Worship Service
November 7, 2021 @ 10:00 am CST
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
This Sunday we continue our journey through Samuel with 1 Samuel 31 (and Romans 6:23) in a sermon that could be titled “The Sovereignty of God and the Foolishness of Man – The Wages Of Sin Is Death”. Saul and the armies of Israel face the formidable foe of the Philistines bravely, but to no avail. Not only are Saul’s sons killed, but Saul himself is wounded and the Israelite army is scattered. Saul ends up killing himself and the Philistines soundly rout the Israelites and take possession of much of the land. After the Philistines take the bodies of Saul and his sons, a group of valiant men retrieve them by night and end up giving them a proper burial. As we dig into this chapter, we see again how the wages of sin is death – for ourselves and often, for those around us. Praise the Lord for the cross of Jesus and for the indwelling Spirit! May we live lives that are free in regard to sin – dead to the flesh, but alive to God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
November’s Memory Verse: “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” ~Habakkuk 2:14
