Worship Service
October 24, 2021 @ 10:00 am CDT
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
This Sunday we continue our journey through Samuel with 1 Samuel 29 & 30 and Psalm 121 in a sermon that could be titled “The Sovereignty of God and the Foolishness of Man – The LORD Is My Help and the Battle Is His”. David and his men return to Ziklag (from Achish) to find it sacked and razed. David turns to the LORD in that moment and finds His strength sufficient and His mercy abundant. After defeating the Amalekites once and for all, David rightly explains to his men that the spoil from that battle is from the LORD and must be shared with those who stayed behind. David then uses some of that same spoil to [presumably] strengthen his ties with Judah. As we dig into this chapter, we see the LORD’s goodness, authority, and mercy again and again. May we give Him the praise He is due and humbly rejoice in His overarching sovereignty! May we find our help and rest in Him.
October’s Memory Verse: “But the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.” ~Habakkuk 2:20
