Worship Service
October 17, 2021 @ 10:00 am CDT
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
This Sunday we continue our journey through Samuel with 1 Samuel 29 in a sermon that could be titled “The Sovereignty of God and the Foolishness of Man – The LORD’s Mercy In the Midst of Consequences”. David and his men find themselves in a predicament in this passage due to David’s deceit; because he led Achish to believe that he was doing guerilla warfare on Israel, Achish expected David to go with him to war against Saul and all of Israel. The LORD mercifully intervenes through the response of the Philistine princes, and David and his men depart from the battle scene. As we dig into this chapter, we will again be reminded of the dangers of trusting ourselves and living in deceit. May the LORD continue to glorify His name in us and may we take advantage of His grace to live lives that reflect His truth, justice, and grace.
October’s Memory Verse: “But the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.” ~Habakkuk 2:20
