Worship Service

October 10, 2021 @ 10:00 am CDT

“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3

What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!

This Sunday we continue our journey through Samuel with 1 Samuel 28 (and possibly Hebrews 12) in a sermon that could be titled “The Sovereignty of God and the Foolishness of Man – Steadfast Trust, Fearful Judgment, & Merciful Compassion”. David is tasked with joining forces with Achish against Israel, while Saul goes to a medium in order to try and get news about the impending battle. In the LORD’s sovereignty, He allows [at least a form of] Samuel to prophesy doom on Saul from the grave. As we dig into this passage together, we will be reminded of the LORD’s authority and His wrath in judgment upon those who are rebellious against Him. May He turn our hearts to Him and may we respond with humble obedience rather than wicked rebellion. He gets the glory either way, but what a costly toll disobedience holds for those who refuse Him!

October’s Memory Verse: “But the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.” ~Habakkuk 2:20
