“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
Our journey through Paul’s second letter to Timothy, and our journey through a series on the Church, is set to continue with a sermon set in 2 Timothy 4:1-8 and titled “The Finish Line Is Coming: Run Well & Trust the Judge”. In this short, but important, section of Paul’s second letter to Timothy, we see a glimpse of the desperate struggle in which we are engaged in as followers of Jesus Christ; Paul lays it all out on the line for Timothy by challenging him to endure in the face of rejection. Timothy was to persevere in the ministry God had called him to, regardless of the cost or results; Paul himself stood as an example of faithful service and he was looking forward to the end of his earthly journey and the future reward that awaited him before the Lord. As we look more closely at this passage, may our hearts be emboldened to obedience and trust in the same God who carried Paul through, and before whom we have found favor and strength in Christ! Hallelujah!!!
October’s Memory Verse:
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” ~2 Timothy 3:16-17
