“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
This Sunday we plan to continue our sermon series about the Church; Lord willing, in this series we will cover the cause and the purpose of the Church, its structure and integrity, its purity and its power, and the roles and responsibilities of men and women. Our expected passage this week is Ephesians 5:1-8 in a sermon titled “Dear Imitators of God – Part 2″. As we dig deeper into the Word of God, we will be reminded of our new identity as the Body of Christ and what is now expected of us. This new identity means a complete break with the old and its sinful ways: Instead of selfishness and pride, we are to walk in love; instead of sexual immorality, impurity, and covetousness, we are to live as saints; instead of folly and filthiness, thanksgiving; and, instead of darkness, light. As we are reminded and challenged by such truths, may our hearts be responsive to the Spirit of God and may great glory and revival ensue. Soli Deo Gloria! Walk as children of light!
August’s Memory Verse: “Therefore, be imitators of God as dear children.” ~Ephesians 5:1
