“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
This Sunday, we begin a journey into 2 Thessalonians. In this first segment, we see Paul, Silvanus (or Silas), and Timothy’s great joy over the Thessalonian church’s faithful perseverance in the Lord. This perseverance is not just a normal plodding through life, since the Thessalonians were apparently facing persecution and tribulation; yet, their patience and faith is evidence of the future coming and righteous judgment of the Lord. Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy encourage the believers and pray for God to work in and through them for His glory.
