“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
We began a new section of our series on the Church today by jumping into Paul’s second letter to Timothy. In a sermon titled “Life In Christ – Faith, Power, Love, and Discipline”, we dug into 2 Timothy 1:1-7 and were challenged by the faith of Timothy, the perspective of Paul, and the reality of the situation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Timothy, a beloved spiritual son of Paul, was encouraged by Paul to press on and press in – pressing on toward the goal of the upward call of God and pressing in to the power and control of the Holy Spirit. At the same time, Timothy was reassured of Paul’s love for him and his appreciation of Timothy’s faith. As we continue to process and meditate on God’s Word, may be we emboldened to live under the authority of the Spirit and with an eternal perspective in view. May God get all the glory in His Church as we live in Christ and for Christ!
August’s Memory Verse:
“Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.” ~2 Timothy 1:13
