“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
This Sunday we hope to dive into John 20 in a message that could be titled “Do You Believe? – A Resurrection Recounting”. In this section of John’s Gospel, we are told some of the details that occurred on Resurrection Sunday and the days following: Mary Magdalene’s discovery and reporting, Peter and John’s investigation, Mary’s encounter with the risen Jesus, the disciples’ joyful reunion with Him, and the Lord’s gentle confrontation and rebuke of Thomas. The chapter finishes with the purpose statement for all of John’s Gospel: All these things are written so that all who read it may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing each one might have life in His name. May that be true in each one of us! Praise the Lord, Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
April’s Memory Verse: “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” ~John 20:31
