Worship Service
March 5 @ 10:00 am CST
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
This Sunday we plan to continue our sermon series about the Church; as we do, our sermon text is found in 1 Timothy 4:6-10 and the sermon title is “To This End We Toil And Strive”. In this passage, Paul encourages Timothy to give his instructions to the brothers (the Church); in doing so, Timothy will be proving himself to be a good servant of the Lord. Paul then charges Timothy to be careful about what he entangles himself with – he was to avoid the distracting and dangerous ideas floating around – and to set himself on pursing godliness. This pursuit of godliness is valuable in every way and it is for godliness that Paul reminds Timothy that believers toil and suffer reproach. It is not for aught, though, because our hope is not in the vain and earthly treasures of this life, but in the living God! Praise the Lord that He is faithful and good! Praise Him that we are not hopeless, but firmly rooted on a sure and steadfast foundation! May our lives overflow with His character to the praise of His glory.
March’s Memory Verse:
“For it is for this we labor and strive, because we have fixed our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of believers.” ~1 Timothy 4:10
