Worship Service
February 12 @ 10:00 am CST
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods.” ~Psalm 95:1-3
What a privilege to come and worship the Great I Am together! While every service isn’t exactly the same, we usually have some opening Scripture, announcements, a memory verse, singing, prayer requests and prayer time, and a sermon from God’s Word. May the Lord draw each one closer to Himself and work in powerful ways through His Spirit and Word!
This Sunday we plan to continue our sermon series about the Church; Lord willing, in this series we will cover the cause and the purpose of the Church, its structure and integrity, its purity and its power, and the roles and responsibilities of men and women. Today we plan to jump into 1 Timothy 3:1-7 in a sermon titled “Overseers – The Character and Qualities of Godly Shepherds”. While the title and subject may seem to only be for a few in the Church, the commands to and characteristics of an overseer are to be pursued by all believers. Obviously, only certain men are qualified and chosen to be elders in a church, yet the godliness and fruit of the Spirit’s presence in a believer pertain to all children of God. As we study and apply this passage, may our hearts be humble before the Lord. May He continue to build His Church, working in us what is well-pleasing in His sight, and enabling us to be the people (and leaders) that He desires us to be in Christ.
February’s Memory Verse:
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen by angels,
Preached among the Gentiles,
Believed on in the world,
Received up in glory.” ~1 Timothy 3:16
