Be Transformed – Dwelling In Him and On Him

June 27th, 2024 – Late Thursday Afternoon

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” ~Philippians 4:8

As we tie up Philippians 4:8 today, remember that the characteristics found therein are directly rooted in the character and nature of God; He has not called and commanded us to dwell on that which proceeds from anything other than Himself: He is the source and definition of true Truth; He is completely venerable and immaculate; He is perfectly righteous in all of His ways, without stain or blemish; no one compares to His loveliness, and no one can compete with His reputation; on top of all that, He is entirely excellent and worthy of the highest and utmost praise!

Since that is all true, the key to right thinking is found in knowing Him and choosing to reorient our hearts and minds around His character. When we focus on Him, we can see in everything else what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and of good repute – and we can see what is not; furthermore, we are empowered by His Spirit to dwell on that which is excellent to Him and worthy of His praise.

So… Is that the way you and I are training our thinking? Is this the path in which we walk? Are He and His ways our delight?

“Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” ~Romans 12:1-2

Beloved, being transformed in our thinking is not a burdensome task or an impossible reality if we have set our minds on that which pleases our Father. Let us stop making excuses and start walking in obedience to His Word – by the power of His Spirit and with the aid of His inexhaustible grace.
